Zipp Mobility partner with Dataships for peace of mind on data privacy compliance
Zipp mobility is a shared mobility operator and operates using e-bikes and e-scooters across Ireland, the UK, and the EU. Founded by Charlie Gleeson in 2019, Zipp mobility’s mission revolves around mobility done right, prioritising safety, sustainability, and a community-first approach.
Zipp experienced rapid growth and with this came the increased importance of data privacy compliance. Operating in both the UK and across the EU, GDPR (and subsequently UK GDPR) compliance was a key concern for the business, especially as the number of users data they processed increased. However, during this time the team did not have its own in-house legal or compliance expertise that could advise on this topic and they were therefore spending a lot of time themselves trying to figure the legal jargon and data privacy regulations.
The Solution – How Dataships Helped
By outsourcing this area of the business to the experts in Dataships, the team at Zipp could continue focusing on growing the business safe in the knowledge their website compliance was taken care of.
“We have an immense responsibility with the number of customers that we have that we treat our data with integrity and ethically and compliantly. We want our customers to see us as a trustworthy provider and we felt that we needed experts like Dataships in our corner to help us do that….It’s nice knowing that Dataships has this part of the business figured out for us”, Ben Duffy, Operations Lead at Zipp Mobility.
By partnering with Dataships, the team at Zipp has continued on this rapid growth trajectory and has recently begun rolling out into Ireland in 2022. By using the Dataships tool and having their expertise available it has “increased our efficiency on our side and helped us grow”.
